Search Engine Agents (SEA) is a multi-agent system which offers new functions to Artificial Intelligence in order to improve the work with the databases from inside or outside the company, a solution that replaces the classical method of recovering the information you need.
By efficacious and simultaneous use of the best indexing and recovering technologies, SEA offers new functions of Artificial Intelligence. SEA helps you easily find the information, store the results on the workstation and organize it in a precise manner, automatically eliminating duplicates.
SEA is used to provide the web browser new intelligent functions. The objective is to use Distributed Information Retrieval agents that should be able to find the information, and Personal Assistant Agents that will present it an intelligent way.
The user needs no a-priori knowledge about the Internet. The agents know the existing search engines and their capabilities (from the search engine profiles). They will select the appropriate search engines accordingly to their profiles. The retrieved information is refined and presented to the user in a suitable structure. The Personal Assistant Agent will build and maintain the user profile based on his needs. It will monitor the user's activity (the search process) on the Web and improve his profile, which is later used for other searches (in order to reformulate the query) and for refinement of the newfound information. All this process is transparent for the user.
